2============\r
3\r
4This is the README file for the PuTTY installer distribution. If\r
5you're reading this, you've probably just run our installer and\r
6installed PuTTY on your system.\r
7\r
8What should I do next?\r
9----------------------\r
10\r
11If you want to use PuTTY to connect to other computers, or use PSFTP\r
12to transfer files, you should just be able to run them from the\r
13Start menu.\r
14\r
15If you want to use the command-line-only file transfer utility PSCP,\r
b50433b1 16you will probably want to put the PuTTY installation directory on\r
17your PATH. How you do this depends on your version of Windows. On\r
4e860fdb 18Windows NT and 2000, you can set it using Control Panel > System; on\r
19Windows 95 you will need to edit AUTOEXEC.BAT. Consult your Windows\r
20manuals for details.\r
21\r
22What do I do if it doesn't work?\r
23--------------------------------\r
24\r
25The PuTTY home web site is\r
26\r
27 http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/\r
28\r
29Here you will find our list of known bugs and pending feature\r
30requests. If your problem is not listed in there, or in the FAQ, or\r
31in the manuals, read the Feedback page to find out how to report\r
32bugs to us. PLEASE read the Feedback page carefully: it is there to\r
33save you time as well as us. Do not send us one-line bug reports\r
34telling us `it doesn't work'.\r
